Pudding Chomeur

Pudding chomeur is a staple dessert in French-Canadian cuisine. It's on my favourites, along with poutine and tourtière. It's a cake baked in a caramel sauce. It's eewy and gooey and uber sweet (get your glass of milk ready).

PUDDING CHOMEUR

What you'll need:

Cake
1 1/2 cup of flour
1 tsp of baking powder
1/4 cup of butter, softened
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of milk

Syrup
1 1/2 cup of maple syrup
1 cup of brown sugar
1 cup of heavy cream
1/3 cup of butter

1. In a large bowl mix together the softened butter and sugar until smooth. In another bowl, mix the flour and baking soda.
2. In parts, add the flour mix and the milk to the butter and sugar. Blend until smooth.
3. Heat oven to 325 F. Butter a 9x13 baking dish. Pour the cake mix into the dish. Set aside.
4. In a casserole, heat all ingredients for the syrup ( maple syrup, brown sugar, cream, and butter) until it boils. Bring down heat and stir for 2 minutes or until sauce has thickened.
5. Pour the sauce over the cake batter and do not stir. Bake in the over for 45minutes.

Bon appétit!
