Our wedding

Before our ceremony Thierry and I decided that we would see each other. Our photographer, Monique Weston, wanted us to have the time to take pictures and I'm glad she convinced me to do so. It was so exciting to have that walk towards him while his back was to me. When he turned around to look at me, his reaction was priceless. My heart instantly melted. It was the most intimate moment we had on our wedding day. For some reason, I felt like that moment defined our wedding and I had a hard time grasping that we still had the rest of the day to celebrate our love and union.

THE CEREMONY

This is where the emotions kick in full gear. I was standing in the hallway of the Montreal Science Center with my dad to my side, watching my bridal party walk through the curtain one by one. I stood there until the processional song finished and anxiously waited for my song to begin. And then the curtains opened.

I thought I would make it down the aisle without crying, but the emotions were stronger than I was. All I could see was the man of my dreams standing tall at the end of the hall and all I could think of was how lucky I was to be his. I was doing really well with the tears and trying not to pull an ugly cry and ruin my makeup, and then I saw Thierry put his head down and hold back tears of his own. I dropped my head in my bouquet and I think I kept my eyes closed until my father and I made it to the end of the hall.

Our friend Mike, officiated our wedding and we couldn't have picked anyone better. He brought humor to the ceremony and cracked a few jokes about Thierry but still made sure to keep it short and sweet. I was nervous and shaky while reading my vows and Thierry seemed as calm and posed while he said his.

After our kiss, we walked down the aisle to Charles Aznavour "Emmenez-Moi" song. It was the perfect song for us.

THE RECEPTION

To keep with my Moroccan heritage, I decided to have a few elements of a traditional Moroccan wedding. I entered the reception with a change of dress and completely covered in ornate jewelry. I danced with family and friends to a Moroccan band before heading off to change into another dress.

THE DETAILS

The room was a blank slate, perfect for creating our own feeling to the wedding. I wanted a vintage, romantic feel to our wedding and Azar from Principal Planner designed a beautiful reception hall filled with just enough vintage touch.

(Our wedding was a little over a year ago and I have yet to share or post anything online about our day. Better late than never).
